Will Jenkins Charges To Second Porsche Carrera Cup GB Win At Donington Park

ree

Will Jenkins converted a superb class pole position into the second victory of his Porsche Carrera Cup GB career during the latest round of the 2025 season at Donington Park this past weekend (30/31 August).

Full of confidence after celebrating his maiden class win a fortnight prior at Knockhill, Jenkins made the short trip to his local circuit Donington Park looking to replicate the pace that saw him secure a great class pole position on his Carrera Cup GB debut there back in April.

This time around it would be the full Grand Prix layout being used at the Leicestershire venue. After an encouraging test day there earlier this month, the two free practice sessions on Thursday served up more crucial mileage in both wet and dry conditions.

The 20-year-old talent duly converted his promising pace into a fantastic performance in qualifying on Saturday. Behind the wheel of his Team Parker Racing prepared Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car, he charged to a third Pro-Am class pole position of the season in an equal seasons’ best fifth place overall.

Jenkins, who is racing as part of the coveted Wera Alliance Academy young driver programme from leading BTCC outfit Alliance Racing and Wera Tools, got the opening race of the weekend on Sunday off to a great start as he maintained his class advantage through a frenetic opening lap.

Holding sixth position through an early safety car period, the Staffordshire racer found himself sandwiched between reigning champion George Gamble and Pro-Am rival Oliver White after the restart. While clearly quicker than the car ahead, his focus remained on maintaining his advantage over White behind.

Jenkins perfectly executed the remainder of the race to complete a superb lights-to-flag class victory in fifth place, his highest overall race result of the campaign. That put him in the same position on the grid for the second race of the day, which was televised live on ITV4.

Another strong start saw him maintain his class lead and latch onto the back of a fierce battle between the leading four PRO contenders. The Stone-based driver looked to get stuck in and went wheel-to-wheel with current outright championship leader Will Martin.

Unfortunately, a robust defence from Martin resulted in slight contact heading into the Old Hairpin. This caused the front splitter to break off Jenkins’ car, with the subsequent loss of grip and downforce meaning he was powerless to prevent himself dropping to fifth in class.

Jenkins, who races with the crucial support of personal partners Hopkins Race Transporters, Asset Alliance Group, The Reefer Trailer Centre, Culina Group, Barkers Finance, The Green Group and SAF Holland, is back in action in three weeks’ time (20/21 September) at Silverstone.

Will Jenkins: “Taking away the frustration of race two, it’s been a brilliant weekend at Donington Park. All season I’ve been working hard to get quicker and move closer to the front of the grid, and this weekend showed that we’ve achieved it and we’re capable of mixing it with the best drivers.

“I’ve always loved Donington Park and with the experience under my belt from the opening round of the season, I was confident of hitting the ground running. Free practice went well on Thursday and I’m delighted to have followed that up with the Pro-Am pole position in qualifying.

“The opening race couldn’t have gone better for me, the car was perfect and we had the pace to stay in front throughout for the win. After a good start in race two, it felt like everything was there to do the same again, but unfortunately it didn’t quite go my way.

“It felt great to be going wheel-to-wheel with the top drivers on the grid, but sadly I received contact which took off my splitter. From there I was a sitting duck and no matter how hard I tried to defend, there was nothing I could do to stop them getting past me.

“While it’s disappointing to have the weekend end on that note, I’m still absolutely delighted with my performance. We’re feeling great at the moment and now we’re going to two circuits that I won on in the Cayman’s last year, so I’m ready to go and end this season with more success.”
