Will Jenkins Impresses With Porsche Podium Return At Silverstone

Will Jenkins made a welcome return to the Porsche Carrera Cup GB podium after an impressive performance across the penultimate round of the 2026 season at Silverstone this past weekend (26-27 September).

Bouncing back from a challenging outing at Croft earlier this month, the Staffordshire racer headed to Silverstone hoping to build on great success at the circuit in the past, having previously won on the National circuit in Ginetta Juniors, GT5 Challenge and Porsche Sprint Challenge GB.

Jenkins, who is competing as part of the Wera Alliance Academy, got the event off to a positive start in free practice on Friday. Topping the timesheets in both sessions aboard his Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car, he was looking forward to what was set to be an incredibly competitive weekend.

Unfortunately qualifying didn’t quite go his way on Saturday however. Changes to the wind direction and temperature meant he car wasn’t in quite the right window compared to the previous day, and in a session of really fine margins, he was left to settle for fourth position on the timesheets.

The opening race on Sunday proved to be one of the most chaotic of the season so far. Whilst Jenkins slipped back to sixth early on, he focused on keeping his nose clean as others hit trouble and seized on an incident ahead on lap nine to charge up to fourth.

The Team Parker Racing ace slipped back to fifth at mid-distance, however he would again see two cars come to blows ahead of him a few laps later. That opened the door for him to grab third place, with a composed drive to the chequered flag netting him a seventh overall podium finish of the season.

The final race of the weekend took place live on ITV4, with Jenkins lining up third on the grid. Emerging from a busy opening lap in the same position, he then pulled off a move on Jonathan Moore a couple of laps later to move up to second position overall.

The Stone-based driver soon tucked under the rear wing of his team-mate Jack Sherwood and commenced a battle for the race victory. He pushed him hard throughout the remainder of the race and despite his best efforts, had to settle for second at the chequered flag.

Unfortunately, Jenkins was handed a five-second penalty for track limits infringements though, which cruelly dropped him out of the podium positions to fourth place. That result means he holds a 21-point lead in his quest to secure overall vice-champion honours heading into the final round of the season at Brands Hatch (10-11 October).

Will Jenkins: “It wasn’t a perfect weekend, but it was great to get back on the podium and score a good haul of points for the championship. While the title has slipped away, I’m in a strong position for second in the points and I’m determined to secure that final position.

“The event started really well on Friday, with the Team Parker Racing car feeling really good. Qualifying was frustrating then, as a slight change in the conditions didn’t work for us and in such a competitive championship on a circuit like this, I had to settle for fourth on the grid.

“Race one was very chaotic, but I kept it clean and grabbed the opportunities when they presented themselves. It was good to follow that podium up with another strong drive in race two, and it’s just a shame that the time penalty cost us a second podium result.”
