Will Jenkins Continues Title Challenge With Great Thruxton Podium

Will Jenkins will head into the second half of the 2026 Porsche Carrera Cup GB season in the fight for title glory after securing his seventh PRO class podium finish of the campaign in the latest round at Thruxton this past weekend (25-26 July).

Returning to action after the lengthy nine-week summer break, Jenkins headed south to the Hampshire speedbowl looking to build on his phenomenal start to the 2026 season which featured three pole positions and a 100% podium record in the PRO class.

The Wera Alliance Academy driver enjoyed a positive test day at the 2.36-mile Thruxton circuit in late June. He built on that in the official free practice sessions on Friday, going fastest overall in both sessions in his Team Parker Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car.

Jenkins carried that pace into the opening qualifying session on Saturday and was in the fight for pole position. Posting his fastest qualifying lap of the season, with an average speed of 117mph, he secured second on the grid for the opening race of the weekend.

There was frustration for the Staffordshire-based talent in the second qualifying run though. Heading into the chicane, he found himself blocked by a backmarker resulting in contact. With it costing him crucial time for two laps when his tyres were at their peak, he was left in fifth on the timesheets.

From the front-row of the grid for race one on Sunday morning, Jenkins made an impressive start and quickly broke clear of the pack behind in the opening laps. That meant he could put his full focus on chasing the leader and title rival Callum Voisin, posting the fastest lap of the race in pursuit.

With it proving difficult to follow other cars closely around the high-speed Thruxton corners due to aero wash reducing his grip, Jenkins wasn’t quite able to get close enough to attempt an overtake though but secured a great points haul in second overall.

Race two took place in front of the live ITV4 television cameras, with a brilliant start for the 21-year-old seeing him immediately gain a position to fourth. Further progress was in his sights in the early laps, but as the race developed a balance issue increasingly affected his Porsche.

Struggling with the instability of the car, Jenkins was powerless to stop himself from slipping back to fifth on the road. The handling issues also caused him to accrue track limits infringements, with the subsequent five-second time penalty putting him down to seventh in the PRO class in the final result.

Despite the race two frustration, a good points score across the event means he’s only 12 points shy of the championship heading to Donington Park next (22-23 August). He races thanks to the crucial support of his loyal personal partners Asset Alliance Group, The Reefer Trailer Centre, Hopkins Race Transporters, Barkers Finance, SAF Holland, The Green Group and WS Transportation.

Will Jenkins: “It was certainly an up and down weekend but overall, I have to be pleased with our performance and the pace we produced. We’ve come away with a good haul of points and not lost much ground in the standings, so we are still well in the fight!

“The pace was great from the off on Friday and I feel like we were strong enough for a double pole position. A huge slide at the fastest corner on the circuit in qualifying one crucially cost me a couple of tenths and pole, while the incident with the backmarker in the second session was really unfortunate.

“I gave it everything in race one to try and get close enough to make a move for the lead, but I couldn’t quite do it. Race two was frustrating as it began well, but once the car started to feel unsettled and became a handful in the high speed corners, there was nothing I could really do.

“We’ve got some investigation to do on the car, but Team Parker Racing are the best in the business and I’ve no doubt they will make sure it’s on top form ready for Donington Park next. Thank you to them for their continued help and support.”
