Will Jenkins Scores Brilliant First Porsche Carrera Cup GB Podium

ree

Will Jenkins secured a richly deserved first class podium finish in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB with a battling performance in the latest round of the hotly-contested 2025 season at Croft this past weekend (02/03 August).

Returning to action after a lengthy eight-week summer break, Jenkins made the trip to North Yorkshire with a strong track record at the Darlington track, having previously celebrated podium finishes in both Ginetta and Porsche machinery there in the past.

The highly technical 2.1-mile circuit and its notoriously bumpy surface presented a unique challenge for Jenkins in his Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car. Friday’s free practice sessions were therefore crucial as he got up to speed on used tyres ahead of the weekend.

The Staffordshire racer, who is racing as part of the coveted Wera Alliance Academy young driver programme from leading BTCC outfit Alliance Racing and Wera Tools, converted the experience and knowledge gained into an impressive qualifying performance the next day.

Jenkins put in a rapid lap time to finish up sixth overall and third in the competitive Pro-Am class on the timesheets. There was potential for more too, however on his last flying lap, he hit some fluid on circuit which led to an off-track moment and some damage to his car.

A brilliant job by the Team Parker Racing crew ensured the #30 machine was ready to go for Sunday’s two races, which were both televised live on ITV4. A tricky start to the opener saw Jenkins drop a couple of places off the line, before losing further ground in the frenetic early battles.

The 20-year-old talent quickly regained a couple of places on the next lap though, settling into eighth overall and third in the Pro-Am ranks. From there, a composed performance saw him maintain a comfortable gap to his class rival behind to bring home a long-awaited and well-earned maiden CCGB podium.

Jenkins hoped to double his podium tally in race two and got a great launch off the line this time round. Unfortunately as they went through the tight and twisty opening sequence of corners though, a couple of bouts of contact from other cars forced him off line and onto the low-grip marbles.

Recovering into 12th place overall and fifth in class, Jenkins faced an uphill battle to regain lost ground on a circuit traditionally difficult to overtake around in these cars. So it proved for the Stone-based driver, as robust defending from the driver ahead kept him fifth until the finish.

Jenkins, who races with the crucial support of personal partners Hopkins Race Transporters, Asset Alliance Group, The Reefer Trailer Centre, Culina Group, Barkers Finance, The Green Group and SAF Holland, now heads north of the border to Knockhill in Scotland for the next two races (16/17 August).

Will Jenkins: “There’s been some highs and lows along the way, but overall I’m happy with the performance I produced this weekend. To get a first podium finish under my belt is a great moment for me, and I picked up a good haul of championship points as well.

“The team did a brilliant job to get the car straightened out following the unfortunate moment in qualifying, so a huge thank you to them. The first lap of race one was frustrating, I didn’t get the best start off the line and then I was just in the wrong place a couple of times. Considering that start, to be able to fight back and get a podium finish was great.

“I genuinely believe I had the pace to get another trophy in race two, but once I’d lost the track position, there was nothing I could do against a driver focusing on holding every white line and apex. Ultimately though, the pace is there and I’m excited to see what we can do at Knockhill next.”
